Q: I am an international student studying in Canada. I have a plan to travel to the US before returning to back home after finishing my studies in Canada. My student insurance is going to be expired before traveling to US. Can I purchase insurance to cover in US?

A: If you have purchased student insurance plan in Canada then You can simply extend your current student insurance plan to the days you need for trip. Otherwise, you have to purchase new student insurance plan in Canada at least twice of trip days before your trip start to US. For example, if your trip days to US is 10 days then you need to purchase student insurance plan 11 days before trip start day. Total insurance plan days should be 21 days. Its because International student insurance plan in Canada extends the coverage if the majority of the period of coverage is spent in Canada(51%). But trips to the US are limited to 30 days per period of coverage. Also your trip to home country is excluded. You should contact us for more detail.
